The tool use for preparing is the usual sand paper and cutter ... ^ - ^ ..... easy right ? ..... NOOOOOO, not that straight forward ... the following error will come and hunt you ... @ _ @ ... if you are not careful.

Project 4 - My One Piece Crew - Part 6

Before sanding the kit, it is spray with a thin layer of gray paint ... this will help (for a old man like me... ^ - ^) to see clearly the parting line, and any unevenness in the surface.

PS: Remember not to spray until the floor also get the paint ... put some newspaper lar ^ - ^

Sanding is not easy .... during the process, you may least more than one time regret doing it ..... just like me @ - @..... Anyway, still have to move on, target to get the sanding done in one/two week time.. hehe .. not doing this full time ....

Luffy san once out of the plastic bag, enter into the swimming pool ^ - ^ ... doing bubble cleaning to remove fat aka oil lar ...... By the way, I think he break the record by staying in the pool for three (3) whole days.. ha ha

Ok serious now, once he is out of the pool, he will be dry up and prepare for sanding.

Search the internet, and found one suitable music clip ... purchase it (no choice lar ... & - & ... have to purchase, cant find suitable one other than this, and dont want to get into copyright issues *0* ).

Project 2 – Making a Movie (Thor) – Part 3

Hi there ... took yesterday off, away from the laptop ^ - ^ to get a refreshing mind.

The first thing today I get back from work is to connect to the net and view my Thor video clip at youtube .... So far only 13 viewers ... ha ha ..... so sad. Anyway, my first thought after viewing the video is ........ I dont really like what I see, or rather what I hear ........ something is not right .... let analyze :

1. Graphic is ok, although a bit shaky ^ - ^ ... still acceptable ... and to be frank, I like the graphic ... It has some feel of imperfect beauty, dont you agree ... @ o @ ...
2. Find the thunder roar a bit excessive ..... can remove a few segments from the video ..
3. Background music ... not nice at all, can be MUCH MUCH better ... maybe can search through internet for suitable music, and hopefully is free ^ - ^ ... I hope, I sincerely hope....

In order to have people liking the video clip, I myself must like it first ^ - ^ .... so I will allocate effort this week or so to improve it to something I like ^ - ^ ... and in the receiving end hopefully you will like it too ..... cheers

Project 2 – Making a Movie (Thor) – Part 2

Spending the last week on my laptop (..... Oh ... my good Friday holiday ... gone with the wind ... *O*) creating this movie on Thor. As a amateur to this movie making thing, I use ....... very basic tool ^ - ^, they are:

(1) My Panasonic ZT1 - to take pictures of my beloved Thor
(2) Mozilla Firefox - to source for material like images and sounds
(3) Microsoft PowerPoint - to create the slides to be imported to create the movie
(4) MWSnap 3 - to screen capture the image into .jpg
(5) Linux MultiMedia Studio - to create music and sound
(6) Microsoft Movie Maker - to arrange the slide and audio to create the movie
(7) Youtube - to upload the movie to the web .... cheers... finally get to this point.

Am happy with the result .... of course it can be better, and will do it better next time.... not now ... he he !! Anyway, with one week's effort, the result look pretty decent ( and dont forget, I only start with little knowledge ...). Let see what this will bring us to ..... finger cross .. ^ - ^

As a collector ( I am sooooo proud to declare it ...^ - ^...), Faux Bronze series from Bowen Designs is one of my favorite, they are very cool (Yeah, I say COOL ...^ O ^..., and you know what .... I have a few of them in my store ... ha ha so then PROUD ..... ^ O *...) especially like the first few pieces ... Hulk, Wolverine, Captain A, and many more that I have keep ...... and keep...

Is a bit disappointed to know that not a lot of collectors out there like faux bronze statues .... (sad) ... hence after much thought, I decide to create some form of advertisement to promote Bowen Design's faux bronze statues .... and what best is to have a movie created to promote them ^ - ^.

So .... for the start, as the THOR movie is coming to the cinema soon.... I will start creating a short movie to ride on the wave ...... am I not a smart one ^ O ^

Project I – Making a Papercraft Dragon (Painting the Dragon) – Part 9

Friends, that should be it for this project, see below the near completion dragon ^ - ^ … not bad right??!! What I like best is the scale … look nice ^ O ^.... the eye also look lively ....

For the next step, I will need to make it easy to build and later upload to the OFFER page for your free download …. how about that ... ^ 0 ^.... And do have patience, as good thing must wait...

Start painting the flat model with theme from last posting ……… Not easy , almost give up ^ - ^ (well life is not always easy, but it is always rewarding if you persist -> need to sweat first before you can eat the sweet fruit ^ - ^ )….

Well, finally some model created with Powerpoint (… it is not perfect, but like my master say, “Sloppy success is better than perfect mediocrity” )…… happy that it is done ^ O ^ , the next step is to print the flat model, and see what improvement can be made.

Can you imagine that beautiful artworks can be created using Powerpoint??

At the beginning I will never imagine I can do that with powerpoint ^ - ^.... but what you know ..... with some imagination, it can create quite decent works.

Following are some themes created for the prototype dragon (using powerpoint) for your viewing:

Project I – Making a Papercraft Dragon (Painting the Dragon) – Part 6

Eye is the window to the soul …. I wish to start painting the prototype from there … Searching through the net, there is limited information on the color for the eye of the dragon. Nevertheless, found some:

The logical guess – Assuming Dragon = reptile (I hope no body will argue with that ^ - ^), hence they have yellow-green eyes.

The scientific guess - Dragons, according to text (I don’t think this is reliable….well I will still publish just for your viewing ^ - ^) are resistant to heavy metal-poisoning and live in environments where heavy-metal poisoning is possible. So depending on the type of metals involved a dragon's eye can be a wide range of colors: Cobalt - sky blue , Iron – orange, Chromium – orange, Silver – black and Gold - bright purple.

The artistic guess - All evil dragons' eyes are having black pupil, & red for the rest. Whereas good dragons have some variations from the normal (variations? …. meaning any color also can??!...). The normal eye coloring for a good dragon is to have black pupils and crystal-blue for the rest of the eye.

Anyway following are some eye painted up for the prototype for your viewing…. It may not mean much process, but at least it is moving ^ - ^

Project I – Making a Papercraft Dragon (Building Prototypes) – Part 5

Hi All .... manage to come up with three prototype ... based on the following principal:

• Model shall be created using one A4 size paper
• No glue (if possible)

Prototype 1 (label: 201104PD001). My first try .... look to me more like a dog ...... Anyway a good start, at least this give an idea how I can move forward ^_^



Prototype 2 (label: 201104PD002). My second try – cant show the opposite view (model not so symmetrical) ^ - ^ … … I don’t know what to say, something not so … right ……………



Prototype 3 (label: 201104PD003). My third try – you must have guess … Yes ^ - ^, this is it …. I have provide you three photographs … look good?! Although I know it don’t look very fierce … you cant deny that by one look, it look like DRAGON … ha ha, so happy…



Ok ... that should be done for prototype building, and the next step is to do coloring .... which I am quite bad at ... let hope for the best ... finger cross, and I will work hard ^ - ^ ..

The folding way – I find it the most elegant; it only uses papers and hands … ya ..... two hands only .^ - ^. Typically the paper is fold in specific steps to form the design.. in this case a DRAGON!!

FRIENDS by now, you should have guessed what this technique us actually call .... Yes, “ORIGAMI” .... you are soooo smart ^ O ^ .... hi 5 !!

The assessment for me using this technique to create my first dragon required a lot of brain juice, trial and error, and patience…… sounding REALLY fade and distance to me .................

Looking at the wonderful works that are created by so many papercraft artists. I think I wish to contribute one piece too ^ o ^ ( I may be too arrogance, and later suffer from flaming ... ha ha ...)

Anyway, so I embark to do a search over the internet, and I find that the following means seem interesting and do-able in creating my papercraft dragon:

(1) The 2D way
(2) The 2.5D way
(3) The 3D way
(4) And the Folding way

The 2D way – The most straight forward! However think that I will need to be a very good artist to make the end result look fantastic (as one could say it is always easy to make sophisticated thing look worth $thousands$, BUT difficult to make simple thing look great. So I will not be putting my reputation into trying that … ^ - ^... shy shy... )
